MagMatrix BMSC formulation MgO board whose full name is Basic Magnesium Sulfate Cementitious is an extensively tested fire-rated structural magnesium panel. It is a more cost-effective and sustainable alternative to Portland cement, gypsum, plywood, and OSB boards that can be used in walls, roofs, and floors for residential, commercial, industrial, and agricultural buildings. Custom designed for any project and provide an extremely fire resistance, strong structure, energy-efficient, cost-effective, and sustainable building system.
MagMatrix fire-rated structural sheathing board can benefit your construction project by completing multiple advantages.
Traditional cement production accounts for 8-12% of the world’s anthropogenic CO2 and is set to grow to 23% by 2050 (ref. Scientific America). In the U.S. alone construction waste is estimated to contribute 40% of solid landfill waste. MagMatrix MgO fire-rated structural Sheathing board is healthier, safer, and stronger for people and the planet.
ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY
MagMatrix MgO fire-rated structural sheathing board is a reduced carbon footprint construction panel that produces less waste on the job. It is only 1/3 the carbon footprint of traditional concrete construction, sustainable, and qualifies for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) and Green Building Certification. Also, it is a very Low Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) Emission Building Material with no off-gassing or harmful chemicals. Completely recyclable and acts as a nutrient when it is ground up and sprinkled into the soil, classed as ‘Nutritional Waste’.
HIGH FIRE RESISTANCE
MagMatrix MgO fire-rated structural sheathing board can prevent fires from spreading from interior to exterior walls and vice versa. It is a Class A1 fire-rated product and scores a 0/0 rating on the ASTM E84 / UL 723 Flame Spread and Smoke Developed Index. Critically, it is a high fire rating(1-4 hours) with ASTM E119 & CAN/ULC S101 Standard for both interior and exterior, on wood frame, metal frame, and SIP assemblies. Releases up to 30 lbs. of water as vapor during a fire event, helping to cool and contain the fire. No plywood, OSB, or drywall panel can claim this.
HURRICANE RESISTANT
MagMatrix MgO fire-rated structural sheathing board is strong, durable, and impact resistant a requirement for hurricane-prone areas. It can withstand high wind pressures up to 5800 UFL* (equivalents to 350 miles per hour wind speed, stronger than a tornado!) which provides a weather-resistant barrier that keeps your building safe from harsh outside elements. It is your home’s second line of defense to stand up to the severe weather, no matter where you live.
MOLD & MILDEW RESISTANT
MagMatrix MgO fire-rated structural sheathing board is completely inorganic, will not rot or mold, and will not feed mildew. Also, it will not support black mold growth and has a high resistance to moisture absorption making it an ideal choice for wet humid environments. ASTM G21 /ASTM D3272/3: Scores a 0/0/0 rating, (standard practice for determining the resistance of building material to mold and fungi). It is also mice, rats, insects, ants, and termite-proof.
DESIGN FLEXIBILITY
Interior boards finish beautifully, achieving Level 5 finishes in half the time, with half the mud and paint The exterior can be painted or coated with a synthetic stucco finish, lap siding, brick veneer, stone, and a host of other suitable exterior finishes. MagMatrix MgO fire-rated structural sheathing board can be used as a Load Bearing Structure for high-rise buildings (over 75 feet) and they are available in various thicknesses to suit the needs of your project. It has become the insulated building sheathing and acts as a replacement for gypsum, OSB, plywood, and fiber cement products.
COST SAVINGS
MagMatrix MgO fire-rated structural sheathing board is easy to install, simple to cut, drill, shape, and fixed. It can be scored or snaped with a standard craft knife, or Stanley blade and can be a hand or machine saw which will contribute to the fast and accurate work. It is 55% faster on build time compared to traditional stick frame construction and up to 80% reduction in transportation costs provides lower labor costs, easier, faster installation, less job site waste, and ease of meeting all building code requirements.
